点评:Part of an 8 day stay in south Idaho/ west Oregon and north Utah. Combined the visit with a trip to the Minidoka Nat’l Historic site. There are two entrance drives on the west side of Hwy 75. The south one is marked with huge blue “CAVE” sign. The north one is not marked other than street name. We took the north one which appeared much wider than the one to the south. Upon arrival it looks like a flea market site. Office site is marked and is the point of entry for the museum and cave. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Given two battery powered lanterns and off we went. One member of our party walked cane assisted. Trail is not paved. Some loose aggregate. A few short, moderately steep slopes. Hand rails the full length of trail. 20 minutes in one direction at a very casual pace. Lanterns worked great. Informative signs along the route. Upon reaching the end of the trail you do an about face and go back the same way. No stooping or bending or crawling necessary at any point. Wear very good walking shoes. 41degrees in cave with no breeze. We were comfortable in short sleeve shirts with no jacket. If you enjoy geology and experiencing natural wonders, you will enjoy this.
