Neglected historic masterpiece
Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace的点评
点评：Monsoon Palace has one undeniable asset — its spectacular location. Perched high above Udaipur, it offers magnificent panoramic views of the city, lakes and the Aravalli hills. Unfortunately, that is about where the positives end.
The road leading up to the palace is in very poor condition, with potholes making the journey uncomfortable and rather disappointing. For a major tourist attraction, the approach road should surely be maintained to a reasonable standard.
The palace itself is also poorly maintained and underwhelming, particularly given its historical significance and reputation as one of Udaipur’s iconic landmarks. There is little effort to bring its history alive, and the overall experience feels more like a visit to a neglected monument than a properly maintained heritage attraction.
What is particularly galling is the cost involved. The entry ticket, together with the additional charge for taking your vehicle up, feels completely disproportionate to what is offered. When you add the poor access road, inadequate upkeep and limited visitor experience, the charges come across as little short of a rip-off.
The views, particularly around sunset, are undoubtedly beautiful. But beautiful views alone cannot justify the expense and inconvenience.
For a monument of such stature, one would expect better conservation, a properly maintained approach road, better visitor facilities and a more meaningful presentation of its history.
In short: spectacular views, but an overpriced and poorly maintained experience. Monsoon Palace deserves far better care — and visitors deserve far better value for their money.
