点评:We are not shoppers - maybe that is why we were not impressed.
In fact, we went to Canal City looking for photo ops, looking for strange angles on a strange building. The exterior is somewhat bizarre, but by now - almost 30 years since it opened - it is probably considered out-of-date rather than avant-garde.
We did take a few exciting shots, but nothing mind-blowing. There are, however, some interesting spaces and colors, and some wild angles, especially if you are willing to hang out over the edge of the balconies and create your own synthesis of architectural elements.
The canal running through the lower level provides the water source for the water show, which was - well - a water show. The (temporary?) manga artwork on the wall at one end of the canal was impressive and yielded some fascinating close-up photos. The interior plantings were refreshing in the midst of the city. Nevertheless, I’m not sure what all the fuss is about.
In addition, we found the place exceptionally noisy. We had to shout to each other to attempt a conversation.
Perhaps we shouldn’t have expected more from a mere shopping mall.
