点评:This museum is an absolute must-do if you’re in Hakone if you have even a passing interest in art, and perhaps even if you don’t. As the name says, it’s an open-air museum, so most of its artworks are located scattered through the fairly extensive grounds. There’s an interactive component to a number of the works, and many have an element of fun and joyfulness, all of which further encourage exploration. There’s even one for kids 12 and under to climb into and bounce around in to their heart’s content - Master 12 was not the only child who ran straight to the nets to do just that!
Towards the back of the museum grounds, there is a pavilion of Picasso’s works, with a large focus on his ceramics, though I most enjoyed his bullfighting series of watercolours. If you have time, take in the views at the cafe and the public footbath. Unfortunately, we only had about 1.5 hours here, but we could easily have spent twice that or more taking in the artworks and the scenery.
