Disappointing and sad
Plaza Foch的点评
点评：Recently, I booked a room at the Radisson nearby and drove past the plaza on my way to the hotel. I was completely shocked to see how deteriorated the area has become. There were numerous shady characters, closed businesses, graffiti everywhere, and the place was generally unkempt.
This was a stark contrast to what I remember from 2016–2017, when the area was beautiful, clean, and felt safe for tourists. Ecuador has so much potential, but it desperately needs investment in rehabilitating areas like this.
For example, Medellín has Provenza, a district that attracts thousands of tourists every year. While it’s not without its issues, the area is kept clean, vibrant, and relatively safe with a visible police presence. Ecuador could easily create its own version of this—culinary, bar and entertainment hubs that could thrive and contribute significantly to the local economy.
Needless to say I never even arrived to my hotel and drove directly to Av.de la Republica el Salvador instead. Revitalizing areas like this is urgently needed for Ecuador to unlock its full potential as a tourist destination. Please work on this!
