点评:If you are a fan of science this is a must-do. Lots of science history here, really classical stuff. If science isn't your jam, you can probably skip it.
Being science nerds, we went, and quite enjoyed it! It starts with a neat multimedia presentation in the old anatomy theater where they used to dissect bodies. Then you progress through the history of Dutch science, with lots of lenses and microscopes (van Leeuwenhoek et al.), planetary models, old botanical texts, etc. The medical section covers various technologies both old and modern, such as a comparison of past and current microscopes and an iron lung. Then there's technology, with an emphasis on windmills and polders (inescapable in the Netherlands!), electricity and computing. There is a hall addressing "big questions" in science such as "are we alone?" and a "trophy room" with some Nobel medals and other prizes and material on scientists, Dutch and otherwise, who've been lauded.
For families: older kids who are science enthusiasts would enjoy. My son is 11 and loves science, and it took him a few rooms to get into it. But there are several exhibits where you can push buttons, generate static electricity, etc., and he enjoyed those a lot.
On the ground floor was a math exhibit with lots of hands-on demos for kids (I think it may be temporary?). Also, for younger kids, there's a water play area in the central courtyard. If it's hot, they'll want bathing suits out there too. I think there was shaded seating out there for adults too.
There are lockers, bathrooms, a small gift shop and a good-sized cafe. They had various coffee drinks and teas; the food menu was limited but I got a nice wrap; they had sausage rolls, a couple of other savory things, and a couple of cakes and pastries available.
Staff were very nice.
