点评：Just a short drive away from Luxor, the Valley of the Kings consists of several rock-cut tombs which were excavated for pharaohs and powerful nobles for over 500 years. The surroundings are awe-inspiring. The place has a certain aura that will mesmerize you with its regality. There are over sixty tombs with some of the most elaborate but not all of them are open to the public. The quality of the artisanship is simply fantastic. The Tutankhamun tomb costs extra to visit so we had to skip it. The Ramesses V and VI, Seti I and II tombs are striking in their opulence and lavishness.
The place is teeming with visitors and there will likely be quite a long line for the tickets. A shuttle takes you from the visitor center to the tombs entrance. Some of the more famous tombs also have long wait times depending on the season. Visiting in December, I found it was quite hot at the site. I cannot imagine how it might be in summer. There is a limit to the number of tombs you can access/visit with your ticket which is a pity. I wished we had known this before so I could have purchased tickets for additional tombs inside the precincts.
The Valley of the Kings is a place where one can easily spend a half day without accounting for the lines. I would strongly urge tourists to not rush their trip
