点评:Next to Karnak I found the Valley of the Kings as THE most impressive place in Egypt - just to give you an idea where you are, this is EGYPT... we all have learned in history classes about this civilization. Now, think of any other civilization or even country, now think of their Kings, presidents etc. and imagine an area where the most important people of their time are buried in, next to each other, yet in separate tombs with beautiful markings, images etc. - and you, an ordinary mortal aka the tourist, are allowed for a nominal fee to enter these grounds and see this part of the history - it's absolutely mind blowing!
The entrance tickets allow you to see as many as 3 tombs - otherwise you want to pay extra, so as you enter each tomb your ticket gets stamped (that's how the keep track of it). For the Tutankhamun there is a separate fee and it's centrally located - there is a great map of who is buried where, the tombs vary and if I had all the time in the world I would make sure to access each open one (some are always closed to the public FYI).
The first part is a Melex (golf cart) ride and once you are the "grounds" is where the fun starts - it's not a huge area but do pace yourself as the tombs are hot, and in November/December it was super hot in this area of Egypt so I can only imagine other months in the summer in particular!
TIP: this place maybe challenging for people with not the best health - lots of walking down and up, but also very hot and humid so take care of yourself
TIP: I am not sure why there are some pictures here of Temple of Hatshepsut but for those we aren't familiar with the matter, as I was and still somewhat am, there are completely two different places - although on the map they appear as next to each other but in reality you can't access them at once and need about 5km drive to access the Valley of the Kings
