点评：The Stone Forest Scenic Area is absolutely worth visiting and was a highlight of our trip to Kunming. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and takes around a 4‑hour bus ride from Kunming, making it ideal as a day trip.
Before entering the park, there are plenty of facilities designed to cater for large tour bus groups, including restaurants and amenities. We were on a day tour and had the included lunch at one of these restaurants, which was convenient and well organised.
The Stone Forest itself is truly a sight to behold, with dramatic limestone formations unlike anything else. The area is very well managed, and most paths are easy to walk. However, there are sections that require a reasonable level of fitness, particularly where there are long flights of stairs and steeper climbs.
Despite visiting during what was considered a low season, it was still very busy. I can only imagine how crowded it would be during peak periods. There is very little shade throughout the site, so visiting in the cooler months—particularly winter—is recommended. Avoiding the middle of the day is also a good idea due to heat and sun exposure.
Overall, a unique and impressive natural attraction that is well run, but one that requires planning around crowds, weather, and walking ability.
