点评:I loved this temple. It was in my favorite top two - Tenryu-ji and this one. We came here by bus. The street leading to the entrance is filled with fun touristy shops. Near the entrance, there are two vertical poles - one lighter and one heavier - that you can try to pick up, alone or with the help of friends. There is also a gong, called a waniguchi, which you can ring to bring attention to your prayers. My husband and I took turns drinking from one of the three streams of the Otowa Waterfall, each believed to grant a different benefit: longevity, success in love, or success in academics. It is considered bad form to drink from all three streams. You get in line for a metal cup with a long handle which are "cleaned" using a UV light sanitizing device after each use (I only saw one person actually drink from the cup. Everyone else just poured some into their hand. Don't drink from the cup, lol.) At one of the shrines, you can buy a lucky charm to help you find a life partner. There is also a wooden terrace with beautiful views. Loved it.
