One of the Few World Heritage Temples That Welcome Wheelchair Users

点评：I was very impressed by how accessible Nishi Hongwanji is.
Even though it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is very easy to visit by wheelchair.
Most areas, both inside and outside the temple, can be explored by wheelchair. Some parts of the grounds have gravel, but the main paths are well paved and easy to use.
What touched me most was not only the facilities, but the warm feeling of being truly welcomed. Wheelchair users are not treated as special visitors here — they are simply part of everyone.
The wooden corridors, the open spaces, and the beautiful view under the golden ginkgo trees can all be enjoyed at the same eye level as other visitors.
At the entrance, there is a sign that says, “A place where you belong.”
After visiting, I felt that these words are not just a slogan, but truly real.
This temple is a wonderful example of how cultural heritage and accessibility can exist together. I hope many travelers who need accessible places will feel safe and at peace when they visit.
