点评:We learned about the Reptile Zoo from their YouTube videos. Fortunately we live in southern California, so it was only a 2 to 3 hour drive. It's located in a strip mall, so it's not what you would normally consider a zoo -- more like an exhibit.
It was fascinating to see so many reptiles, plus a few other kinds of animals (i.e. amphibians). The animals are held in aquarium or terrarium enclosures of various sizes -- huge tanks for alligators; big "cages" for huge boas, pythons, anacondas. Smaller reptiles, such as small snakes and a plethora of lizards, were housed in small enclosures.
We paid $15 each for admission. An additional $5 fee allowed us to handle and pet some small specimens under supervision -- many kinds of lizards, snakes, and turtles.
I think this is a very good educational experience for children. We saw many kids on our visit.
I've read other reviews about possible poor living conditions of the animals, but overall I would say they seem to be healthy. Many of them were born and raised at that location, which has existed for many years. I think they are well-fed and healthy compared to their wild relatives, even though they are confined in small enclosures.
Worth a trip!
