点评:In Hubert you gain the triple pleasure of an excellent guide, who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects, places and people at hand; a resourceful and problem-solving tour leader, who is not deterred by any challenge and does everything possible to make you feel cared for; a professional driver who will get you there in the shortest and safest way possible.
Through Hubert's eyes and words my friend and I discovered a Poland we didn't know much about-- a beautiful country with hospitable people and a very turbulent multi-layered history. Under Hubert's tutelage, we discovered a lot we didn't know about our own people, the Jews of Poland (and of Austro Hungary, Prussia and Russian, depending on which partition you speak of). While confirming the central role of the Polish Jews in the history of our own world Jewish community, we were also surprised to realise how important the Jews were to the evolution of Polish society and culture and vice versa.
Hubert helped us navigate -- physically, intellectually and emotionally -- the complex story of the symbiosis between Poles and Jews during 1000 years of interdependency.
A rare and much valued experience.
