Excellent Staff and Service Despite Operational Challenges
UK Railtours - Day Tours的点评
点评：We travelled on the Festive Flying Scotsman to Newcastle, which made for an excellent day overall, despite a few setbacks that were beyond UK Railtours’ control.
Unfortunately, on arrival at York, a coupling issue between the Flying Scotsman and the train, combined with difficulties in finding a suitable path on the network meant we departed around two hours late. As a result, UK Railtours made the executive decision to cut our time in Newcastle to keep to our original and switch to diesel haulage for the return journey. This was done to minimise further delays, as otherwise we would have arrived back at our destinations significantly later than planned. While it was unfortunate to not spend anytime in Newcastle, I felt that this was the right decision.
I would like to particularly praise the UK Railtours staff. They handled the situation superbly, keeping passengers constantly informed throughout and they were clearly just as frustrated by the circumstances as we were. They were friendly, helpful, and quite exceptional throughout the trip.
In the buffet car, hot food was available to purchase and was both good value and very tasty. I would especially like to highlight the breakfast tray, which was excellent.
One slight drawback was the pickup location at Finsbury Park, which did not feel particularly safe in the early hours of the morning or late at night.
Despite the challenges, we had a really enjoyable day. The Flying Scotsman was as beautiful as ever, and we would definitely travel with UK Railtours again in the future
