点评:This is the 'sister' castle to Himeji, but unlike that castle, this one was destroyed in World War II and has been rebuilt. The rebuilding allowed them to add some nice modern touches: namely, a lift that goes up to the 4th level, and airconditioning throughout. It just makes the visit that much more comfortable. Inside, they also have more exhibits about the Edo period life than Himeji does. One floor has cases of armour and samurai swords. The second floor has a very worthwhile film and display about the key battles that ended with ownership of the castle going to the Ikeda clan. The movie has English subtitles, but the rest of the displays are in Japanese only. Definitely pick up an English language pamphlet with your entry ticket to follow along. It's well worth a good 1 1/2-2 hours.
