点评:Unfortunately, my visit to the Belgrade Zoo left a deeply distressing impression. Yes, there are worse zoos in the world, but that in no way justifies the negligent treatment of animals I witnessed here, despite the place’s relatively high rating.
The conditions in which the animals are kept raise many concerns. I was particularly struck by the situation with the otters: the water was dirty and clearly unfiltered, and they were being fed unplucked chicks (the same practice is used for the falcons and owls). I would appreciate a comment from the administration: does this meet established nutritional standards and regular cleaning schedules?
The staff’s performance was also disappointing. Visitors were openly feeding the animals popcorn, ignoring the 'do not feed' signs, and no employees stepped in to intervene. Moreover, there isn’t even an alternative, such as kiosks selling specialized animal feed. What I saw only evokes sympathy for the animals, and I have no desire to return.
I hope the administration takes action and looks to examples of more responsible and high-quality zoos, such as the one in Leipzig.
