点评:Tuesday 13th May and we travelled on the Rokko Cable Car (Ropeway) from Togenda Station, through Ubako up to Owakudani Station and Nature Reserve
Owakudani Nature Reserve is at a height of 1,044 meters (3,425 feet). It takes about sixteen minutes with roughly eight minutes between each station.
As we were travelling in a group there were too many of us to fit in one pod, so we had to be split over two. Our Guide, Yoko, travelled in the first pod, she briefly stood on the platform at Ubako, middle station, holding up a sign/drawing telling us to get off until the next station.
On our gentle journey to Owakudani, our pod sailed across the tops of the trees and the land below. We were hoping to see the snow capped Mount Fuji as we travelled up the Ropeway. We did get brief glimpses but not the view we were hoping for due to the weather conditions. Every time we were poised to take a picture a floating cloud or a tall tree obscured our line of vision.
We did get to look over Lake Ashi and the surrounding area and the numerous colourful trees below.
When we reached the summit the smell of sulphur permeates through the air from the volcanic steam vents.
After our time at Owakudani Reserve it was time to travel back down on the Ropeway.
A comfortable ride up and down, an enjoyable experience for all ages and despite the weather conditions there were some great views.
