点评：Dashaswamedh Ghat is the one of the must visit ghat in Kashi as it is famous for Ganga Aarthi. Daily Ganga Aarthi rituals is held here, making this Ghat as must visit place in Varanasi. Devotees experience the beauty of the ghat by taking a boat ride, observing traditional rituals. Dashaswamedh Ghat is the main ghat in Varanasi on the holy river Ganga. The Ghat was earlier known as Rameswaram Ghat. There are total 87 Ghats in Varanasi out of all This Ghat is famous and must visit ghat.
This Ghat is very near to Vishwanath temple. It is believed that this Ghat was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in 1748, A few decades later, Ahilyabai Holkar redeveloped this ghat in 1774.
The name Dashaswamedh means "the place where ten horses were scarified". It is believed that Lord Brahma performed a special Ashvamedha Yajna at this Ghat with ten horses. He scarified 10 horses at this ghat, hence giving it the name as Dashaswamedh Ghat.
About Ganga Aarthi:
1. Ganga Aarti held daily here at Dashaswamedh Ghat after sunset and lasts for 45 Minutes. The aarti is performed by Seven learned Brahmins, who do this rituals in a rhythmic tune of bhajans. All the Seven priests wear the same outfit, a dhoti, a kurta and a stole.
2. Every day evening, Dashaswamedh Ghat transforms into a spectacle of light, sound, and devotion as Ganga Aarti held here.
3. Priests dressed in traditional attire perform the Aarti with oil lamps and rhythmic chants, creating an unforgettable experience to devotees who attend the same. Hence this become must visit ceremony for all devotes who visits Varanasi.
4. A picture of river ganga as goddess incarnate Maa ganga is placed on the central platform of the seven smaller platforms and is decorated with garlands and flowers.
