点评:Went here during a solo trip in Xi'an in June 2025. The Drum Tower is arguably the less famous of the Bell-Drum duo in Xi'an, but it's a shame because the Drum Tower is technically older, having retained its original structure while remaining at its spot since the 1300s/1400s (according to external sources). By contrast, the Bell Tower only existed at its current location since the 1500s.
Bought a 50 yuan combined Bell-Drum Tower ticket at the Gulou metro station ticket office and headed over to the Drum Tower after I finished visiting the Bell Tower. It's an easy 5 minute walk, since one can spot the Drum Tower from the Bell Tower and surrounds. There's actually more to see inside the building than the Bell Tower. It consists of two floors with some exhibits inside and an array of drums on the outside. It was also less crowded, which was a major plus. I took around 15 - 30 minutes in the place.
The Drum Tower is right in front of the Muslim Quarter, so it's very convenient to grab a bite afterwards. At night, it's light up beautifully. In all, would definitely recommend visitors come to the Drum Tower, an underrated but excellently authentic symbol of Xi'an.
