点评：If it the intention to explore the Chinatown area, this is an excellent place to start.
There is a very warm welcome from reception staff as you enter the building explaining the museum and information on the wifi code to access the QR codes that offer additional facts. This only provided supplemental information, and we found standard boards as you walk around to be sufficient.
The ground floor is devoted to reproductions of old shophouses illustrating the living conditions of early settlers showing the cramped conditions in which people lived and worked. It focusses on the lives of many different people such as tailors, clog makers and rickshaw drivers, personalising their experiences in a colourful way.
The museums air-conditioned rooms also offer a welcome relief from the Singapore heat. It takes around an hour to walk around. Cash or card accepted.
