Worth seeing, but was it worth the long drive from Incheon Port?

点评：Our Regatta ship docked at the Incheon Port, but as their shore excursions were overpriced and underwhelming, we decided to visit this interesting city with just a transfer from the ship called “Seoul on your own”, $254 just for a bus ride. Big mistake…..the travel time was approximately 1.5 hours each way, which should have given us 3hrs to see some of the sites in Seoul. But Oceania, being consistent, had not planned on how long it would take for us to get from the ship to the port exit….we were still sitting in the Theatre (meeting place for our trip) over an hour later….which resulted in actually only 1 1/2hrs in the downtown area, so disappointing. So when we were dropped @ Deoksugung Palace near City Hall….we hit the ground running! We walked onto Gyeongbokgung Palace (closed but managed to get pics of the outside & of Gwanghwamun Gate) then walked onto Cheonggyecheon Stream, great for people watching, if you get the time. Then back to Deoksugung Palace just in time for an impressive traditional ceremony of the changing of the guard (free entry for those of us older!) Definitely worth a visit, then time to jump back on our transfer bus for another >1 ½ hrs back to the ship.
