点评:This is a large park with lots of wide open space to walk around and reflect on the tragic events that took place here many years ago. As you walk around you can find several monuments dedicated to the victims of Nagasaki and towards ensuring peace. Next to them are often placards with written context in English and Japanese.
The park is built across several layers, which can be accessed with a escalator, lift or stairs. One such monument is the fountain of peace, the water projected upwards in the shape of wings to symbol peace. Likewise there is the Nagasaki peace bell which is tolled on certain days of the year, the ruins of a Nagasaki Prison (which was decimated by the bomb) and at the far end the statue of peace ever symbolic in pose. Be sure to fully explore the park as there are some small points of interest that could be missed which help showcase the parks purpose.
Visiting on a wet dreary winters day the place was quite desolate, although I can imagine in summer the area is more beautiful with the flowers in full bloom, the sun shining & more people around.
