点评:One of several National Park units that tell aspects of the multi-century conflict between the United States and Native Americans. Unlike Sand Creek, it’s labeled a battlefield, not a massacre.
The museum is in a nice modern building but the exhibition is relatively modest. I didn’t feel that the role and fate of Black Kettle was well told.
I asked about the 20 minute film but it was a little after 4 and was told they would be closing soon, so it wasnt shown.
I did part of the hike (despite 7 degree wind chills) and appreciated the audio interpretations.
My rating is based on the museum and park, both worth visiting. Despite my desire that the museum provided more interpretation, the park does what a NPS unit should- preserving an important part of our American story and should be a mandatory side trip for anyone exploring America along Route 66.
