点评:Since the Miyajima Ropeway cable car was closed for maintenance during our visit, we needed to hike up to Mt. Misen via the Momijidani Hike Route via the Momijidani Koen (Deer Park). It was a nice hike with a trail that was well-maintained with a steep uphill climb but there were rest rooms conveniently located along the trail.
Well worth the hike up the unpaved path with an occasional view of waterfalls along the way. The great thing about this hike, is that it was in the shade which was helpful since it was absolutely hot-- 94 degrees with humidity! It took roughly two hours to hike up to Mt. Misen's Observatory but we took an 1/2 hour break at the temples - saw several deer there.
There were nice views of the Inland Sea from the top of Mt. Misen at 1,755 ft. high. It was a clear day to views of the surrounding islands were incredible to see as the boats and people appeared so tiny right below us!
Once we arrived at the Observatory, there were around 15-20 other people there. There are restrooms and a mini Tourist Office located inside. Ask the clerk for the Mt. Misen eki stamp. The stamp includes a date to record your visit. Along with the eki stamp, the clerk offered me a Mt. Misen bookmark and encouraged me to stamp the date on it also.
We hiked down the Daisho-In Trail which as a bit more scenic with plenty of different types of temple figurines- jizos along the way. Going back down was definitely a lot much easier and quicker. Great hike all together!!
