A excellent inside tour of one of the country's oldest prisons.

点评：My wife and I and another couple spent a very interesting and enjoyable summer morning in June 2026 being guided though the old Burlington County Prison, now a museum by a Carl, a retired lawyer and volunteer member of the Old Burlington County Prison Museum Volunteer Association. The tour included the old courthouse next door as well as the old prison which held its last prisoner in 1965 after nearly a century and a half of holding the county's prisoners. Examining the different types of cells in the building and the gallows in the back, accompanied by our guide's account of the most interesting stories about its construction and its inmates, male and female, the escapes and the executions, over the decades gave us much to think about and talk about afterwards. I recommend a visit and a tour most highly. It is truly an enlightening and enjoyable experience, well worth a visit to this prison from the past.
