点评：Sometimes life brings you exactly where you are meant to be. That is how we felt at JJ Hough's Singing Pub.
We never planned to stay that long in Banagher. But because of weather conditions and some technical issues with our boat, we were forced to remain in the harbour longer than expected. Looking back now, we can honestly say: luckily we did.
Because that is how we discovered a place that became one of the most unforgettable parts of our journey through Ireland. JJ Hough’s is far more than just a pub — it is a meeting place filled with music, warmth, laughter, and true Irish spirit.
There was live music every single evening, always different musicians and always a new atmosphere. It is no surprise that this pub is recognised among the “Best Music Pubs of the Year.” The atmosphere there is simply magical.
Over time we got to know the owners, the owner’s father, the harbour mechanics, locals, and travellers from many different countries. People spoke countless languages, yet there were never any barriers between anyone. Everyone was open, curious, welcoming, and genuinely interested in one another.
That openness and friendliness touched us deeply. It created a feeling of belonging that is hard to describe. Honestly, it is something I sometimes miss in Germany.
And then there were the drinks — my absolute favourite was the “Sex on the Shannon” instead of “Sex on the Beach.” The beer was fantastic, the food delicious, and every evening became a memory we will never forget.
This pub did not just make our journey better — it made it special. Thank you for the music, the conversations, the laughter, and the incredible sense of community.
