Tourist trap & drugged komodo dragons

点评：We went to the komodo island as part of our boat cruise from Flores to Lombok.
When arriving on the jetty it already felt a bit off, this feeling unfortunately became a reality.
We were told the dragons were super dangerous and their we no guarantee we would see them. Our “ranger” directly went to a random tree, and there were 3 completely drugged / sedated komodo dragons. One tried to move but all it could do was to move their head.
Ranger told us they are not drugged and fed. But please read other reviews, you will see the dragons everyday at the same trees. I would not be surprised that they sedate them during the day and chain them when the tourists are gone, so that the tourists see the komodo dragons the next day for sure.
After a 30 mins walk we were led to some tourist market with all kinds of komodo merch.
We really had a nasty feeling after this trip.
The animals look majestic, that is true. But i wished I checked google reviews / trip advisor before going on the island.
This is really similar to the tiger & elephant tourist traps in Thailand..
