点评:The Bay of Fires stretches from Eddyspoint (North) to Binalong Bay township (South). It is a conservation area originally named by Captain Tobias Furneaux (HMS Adventure) after seeing numerous fires lit on the area beaches by aboriginal people back in 1773.
Today this is a very popular area along the northeast coast of Tasmania for visitors to enjoy sandy white beaches, turquoise waters and lichen crusted granite boulders that add a dazzling display of orange colour along the coastline.
We recently spent a half a day exploring the southern part of the Bay of Fires, concentrating mostly on the areas around Binalong Bay, Jeanneret Beach and the Sloop Rock Lookout and famous 'Orange Rock'. The beaches are really nice and the unique orange lichen covered boulders add unique and rich colour to the area, making for lovely photographs. Very much looking forward to revisiting the Bay of Fires again in the future to explore the coastline in this conservation area even further.
