Waste of time and money- Unsanitary, couldn’t use facilities, don’t honor policies

Our family, including a young child, visited Brightwater Lagoon and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
We rented a cabana expecting to enjoy the entire day, but upon arrival the facility was closed due to lightning. While we understood the weather was beyond anyone’s control, we were told our cabana rental was nonrefundable—even though we couldn’t use it. The “weather guarantee” on their website does not clearly state that cabanas are excluded. After repeated conversations with staff, we were finally offered a replacement cabana, but it was soaked, and staff initially refused to help dry it.
When the park reopened, many attractions stayed closed for most of the day. The children’s obstacle course never opened at the times we were told, even though other guests accessed different courses. Lifeguards cited “safety issues” while sheriff’s officers roamed the park, which created an uneasy environment.
Cleanliness was also a serious concern. Trash—including cigarette butts, food waste, debris, and even a used dental pick—was scattered around both the sand and pool areas, including inside the cabana section. The cabana next to ours had guests openly smoking, despite park policy, which aggravated asthma in our group.
Between the lack of access to rides, the unusable cabana, poor cleanliness, and disregard for smoking rules, this was not the safe or enjoyable visit we expected. For the price paid, guests deserve transparency, sanitary conditions, and fair treatment when weather prevents the very amenities they reserved.
I cannot recommend Brightwater Lagoon based on our experience and hope management reconsiders their policies and cleanliness standards moving forward.
