A memorable train trip with beautiful views. Take care getting in and out Carriage

点评：I recommend this world class train trip at least once. However, it is expensive if you you don't have a car for transfers or a local discount. The company that runs the train is not affiliated with the cable car. Do some research ahead of time. Avoid NSW & QLD school holidays and days when there is a cruise ship in Cairns. We prebooked a Friday and paid in advance. The train doesn't give a discount for seniors and we needed to arrive at Freshwater at 8:30am to verify local residency prior to getting our tickets for the 8:55am Departure. The kids enjoyed looking at the "telephone switchboard" and there are toilets to use before boarding (though there are toilets on the train). Trip takes less than an hour and a half with a stop to get out and view Barron Falls. Fabulous views of Cairns and historic information provided on the journey. We were given window seats which was lovely and it looks like organisers nicely space out the passengers. I've separate reviewed the Cable Car. Which is a nicely paired return trip booked through a separate company. Be aware you will need to pay for transfers or an uber back to Freshwater station if you parked your car there in the morning. Not sure if people with a physical disability could manage the ladder like stairs in our carriage type and the big step from the platform.
