点评：The Stairizona Trail is an award-winning, unique urban trail created by volunteers, utilizing local artists, to meet unprecedented community needs. It originated when the community hiking park was closed and access to the national forest trails were blocked — both events occurring during the pandemic when people were forbidden from gathering indoors. Utilizing the historic cement staircases created in the 1930s by WPA workers, this walking path is on city streets and winds through historic neighborhoods and Globe’s downtown while highlighting 91 art installations (there were 105 art pieces before the massive floods of 2025 took out some of the art). There is a short, medium, and long route and it’s recommended you start your walk at the trailhead as going backwards along this path doesn’t allow you to see the stair art (the paintings and mosaics are on the stair risers, so nothing is visible from the top of the staircases). Globe is a historic mining community with lots of hills and a huge mix of homes (some in great shape and some very neglected). One reviewer said that the trail went through neighborhoods that are not safe, but he’s incorrect. I live here and have accessed all parts of the trail at all times of day and I’ve always been safe. Bring lots of water as there are only two watering stations along the route. Also, bathroom access is limited, so use the ones available in the parks or downtown businesses. If you’re interested, there’s the option of guided tours along the route that are jam-packed with information about the art, the artists, the history of the area, and the architecture. Globe is the best kept secret in the state because the highway going through the town is so industrial. The Stairizona Trail is one of a number of cool community amenities that make Globe into a great day trip or a packed weekend.
