点评:Had seen signs for The Spike for a while and wondered what it was. Checked Google and found a hidden piece of Guildford history that we didn't know about.
Whilst getting an appreciation of the lives of the tramps and very poor may not sound very glamorous (and it really wasn't), it was absolutely fascinating to find out about life in the early to mid 1800s and beyond.
Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the centre and helped bring the different rooms to life with explanations of what went on.
A really enjoyable couple of hours that opened our eyes to a different world.
We took our son in his wheelchair and they were very helpful with access to as many areas as possible (lift available, incredibly!). Understandably not everything could be accessed (some steps required) but we don't feel that we missed out.
Disabled toilets available!!
