点评:Stacey gave us a croft (farm) tour. She provided detailed explanation of the animals, breeds, market and showing qualities, and much more. The visit provides useful insights into daily life on a working farm in Shetland. This is a working farm with real people doing their best to keep a small farm viable. Shetland is beautiful, but not easy farming. This is not a "museum" tour, they live in the 21st century making a living. Like many people on Shetland, the family do many different jobs on Shetland. We were fortunate that our time on Shetland corresponded with an available "Croft to Table" dinner with Stacey. Booking in advance is essential with the family of this multitasking farm. Stacey is a talented chef - she also prepares food for a Lerwick restaurant. The food was all sourced from the croft, the beef, eggs, lamb, and dairy. They also grew the stew vegetables. She consulted in advance on food preferences, allergies, etc. The menu was delicious and creative. We dined with another couple from Australia, which added to the evening. We ate in the small cow barn made fancy with lights! We learned so much about Shetland that evening! She took us well beyond nice wool sweaters (jumpers or jersey's), neolithic, and Viking ruins into real Shetland life. The experience was priceless.
