Great day out and such good fun.

点评：What a superb day out. We went with friends on Sunday 9 November to enjoy the days horse racing. Sadly the race card was very limiting with very few horses actually running. In fact the first race only had two runners and one of them pulled out on the day. The second race had three horses and this seemed to be the picture for each race. The biggest race was the last one and had seven runners.
I have literally never ever been to a horse race meet and found the place almost empty with very few visitors. It was a real shame when you think how much effort etc goes in to making these days exciting and memorable. So glad we upgraded to the premier lounge upstairs. The view over the finish and the run in are just excellent.
Having said all of that we went with friends and had a really lovely day and enjoyed what racing we saw, drinks flowed and were realistically priced. Food in the main food hall area was very good and there was quite a chose of things to have. A Sandown hotdog with chilli sauce & meat/cheese/mustard etc was £9 and although was delicious it was a little steep in price. However if you had just a plain sausage in a bun you would also pay the same £9 which was certainly far too much.
Staff who worked here were very efficient, friendly and professional. We all certainly enjoyed our day and were surprised that we managed to get a complimentary minibus from the station to the ground. Going back we were not so lucky and paid a taxi to take us back too the station instead. If you want to walk it you can but it will take 20+ minutes to do it.
If you have never been before certainly give it a go. The place is well maintained and is a pleasure to visit and spend a day at. Thank you.
