点评：This is the tallest peak in Karnataka at about 1900 mtrs. It lies an hour's drive from Chikmagalur. Definitely a must-visit place if you happen to be in Chikmagalur on holiday. However, there are a few things the tourism board should do to improve the experience
Other than a nominal Rs 20 toll for vehicles, the place is free to visit. At the checkpoint, there is also a check for plastics. Plastic bottles are a strict no-no. From the checkpoint, the road climbs and is steep at places. A few hair-pin bends. The road is not in the best condition - this is something the govt should do. Improve the road! Even when you reach closer to the destination, you find vehicles parked haphazardly, causing inconvenience to others. Govt intervention is required here also. Also, the Govt should do something to keep the peak clean.
The views from the top of the peak are lovely! Breathtaking sights of the nearby mountains! And the valleys below. There is a temple at one of the peaks, which has some 400 steps leading to it. Go for it if you can - well worth it!

You can hire a car from Chikmagalur for about Rs 3000, covering Mullayangiri and 4-5 other tourist spots around. It's well worth it.
