点评:My sister and I started our adventure at Evergreen Drive and walked towards Penticton’s North Parking Lot where several trails lead to other wonderful areas to explore. Right away, we saw the mountains to our right and the thick forest to the left. A little further along this trail, a huge covered man-made tank, possibly a reservoir, sat among the tall trees. Soon after that, a very sad sight lay beside the trail: one of the largest and most majestic pine trees that I have ever seen, was now a sleeping giant with roots exposed and dried by the sun. We continued on and the trail entered a lush forested area skirted by homes with views of Okanagan Lake, the Penticton Airport and Skaha Lake in the distance. We saw evidence that this lively green forest had been touched by a past fire, but over the years, Mother Nature prevailed with the return of trees, flowers and grasses. As we continued along the main trail, we encountered another hiker walking his dog and others enjoying the outdoors. We passed a very tall rock-faced cliff that rose above the forest floor. Soon, the North Parking Lot came into view with an abandoned and deteriorating old wooden house, a defaced truck trailer and a sign describing the “Bluff’s Donation” containing information about the history of the Syilx nation. We studied a painted rock left by a previous hiker inscribed with the words “Take a Hike” that aptly describe the area where 4 trails lead to other adventures. At this point, we turned around to begin our return trek to Evergreen Drive and eventually home.
