A Pleasant Surprise in the Heart of Cafayate

点评：Our visit to Bodega El Porvenir de Cafayate ended up being one of the enjoyable and unexpected highlights of our trip.
Given its more established reputation, we weren’t quite sure what to expect — but it turned out to be a fantastic experience. The central location right in town is a huge advantage. After our tasting, we were able to simply walk to lunch nearby, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and seamless.
What truly made the visit stand out, however, was our hostess. She was warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely engaging. She handled all of our questions with ease, guided us thoughtfully through the wines, and made us feel completely welcome from start to finish. It never felt rushed or scripted. She also gave us an excellent lunch recommendation, which turned out to be spot on.
While we were already familiar with some of their wines, the real surprise came from their limited-production, higher-end offerings. These wines really stood out:
• A beautifully crafted Chardonnay
• A standout Syrah from 2006!
• And a couple of blends that showed both structure and elegance
These selections added a depth to the tasting that we hadn’t anticipated and left a strong impression.
Overall, this was a polished yet personal experience in a very convenient setting, with wines that go beyond the familiar and reward a deeper look.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cafayate — especially if you want a great tasting without leaving town.
