点评：BEWARE! This once in a life time raft trip of the Upper Grand Canyon ended up being a very miserable experience for us. Although the scenery and weather were perfect, the experience was ruined by the other guests and some of the guides. It all revolves around the toileting experience. We were told that while we were on the river, that men go downstream and the women go upstream when we stop or we can get out of the boat and go in the river directly. This process worked for the first day only. Starting on the second day of the trip we wake to see some of the male guides peeing directly off the boat and not following the rules of going downstream and certainly not being discreet or modest about it. After that the other male guests would pee directly off the boat or so close to the boat that you could see them while in the boat. We talked to the head guide repeatedly about this, and she told us that was just the river culture and to deal with it. By the next to the last day of the trip even some of the other women guests refused to go upstream and just peed next to the boat.
Also, the placement of the portable toilet at camp was not always the most private. One campsite had the toilet placed within viewing distance of a walk path and by this point in the trip, modesty was certainly not being enforced by the guides or adhered to by other guests.
After the trip I tried to contact the owners of Outdoors Unlimited twice about our experience and trying to get them to enforce the policies stated the first day out, of women going up stream and men going down stream to pee. Six months later I have still not heard a single word back from the owners.
