点评:This was recommended by the Visitor Information in town... they said if you like exploring history this should be something you do in town! So here I was. Accessible by car, you will not get public transport to the location. Driving in is like driving into a rural property and there is no formalised parking when you do arrive, but you should arrive nonetheless because there is plenty of room to park- like you would arriving at a party at a rural property- anywhere you like, just leave the livestock alone! :)
hmmm and talking livestock, you will immediately notice Aragog ( Acromantula -from Harry Potter) and a few other unusual friends that he has... Hopefully you have no fear of giant insects.
From here, you should make your way towards The Button House to see the button collection. Many of the brands and buttons I recall seeing in my Grandmothers sewing kits. Finish viewing the Button House and make your way up the hill to the Pioneer Women's Hut that is full of everything that made the home tick in pioneering days. I was fascinated by the 'readers' that I had as a child, "Run Rabbit Run" and "The Twins Can Draw"... I wanted to curl up in a corner with one and be indulgent but felt that it wasn't the place to do so with all of those strangers around. :)
From there you can walk further up the property to the silhouette of the Farmer and his trusty canine... walk from here to the Heritage Quilt Room where you will see quilts like you see in no bedding store EVER! There is a hut at the back of the property with a label "Making a Living, building a community" and inside there is an amazing photo history!! So be prepared to lose time in here! There are also extensive displays of farming equipment and fettler's huts on the grounds before you head to the Old Post Office.
You should be left with only one more place to visit... and that's the main building... here you can purchase local products made by local people. This building has beautiful gardens and if you need the loo... this is also where you need to go.
