Beautiful Windswept Northern Beach with potential swimming hazards!

点评：My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Skiathos (staying at the excellent Skia Premium Executive Appartments - Review to follow) and earlier today - courtesy of the Island’s outstanding Public Bus Service - we visited Megalos Aselinos Beach on the Northern Coast.
It is a relatively remote beach (unlike some of its northern neighbours which are only assessable by boat) and very windswept - indeed it very much reminded me of a number of New Zealand beaches I have visited. More importantly - and I didn’t personally experience this - there is a steep shelf just off the beach which could prove (potentially) serious problems for anyone not a strong swimmer.
In addition - and a very pleasant surprise for me - the Donkey Club is nearby which is where many of the unwanted Donkeys on the Island see out their days. I believe the owner of the Taverna Aselinos (which wasn’t open at the time of our visit but which does have good WC facilities) runs the Club so any donations will be gratefully received!!
