Nice scenery, Monastery was closed up

点评：Saturday 2nd July were driving around exploring the Peninsula of Paliki on the Island of Kefelonia.
We had just visited Xi and Vrahinari beaches on the Southern end of the Peninsula. Having left there we were driving along the coast road from Chavriata towards Kaminatra. Along the way we stopped to visit this old Monastery. It is roughly 15 kilometres from Lixouri
It was founded in the 17th century it stands on top of the rocky headland about ninety metres above sea-level, with commanding views over the Ionian Sea.
When we were here, the Monastery was not open, the metal gates were locked and it had a neglected and abandoned feeling about the place.
We had a quick look around, admired the scenery and the rugged coastline, then left. It was a bit disappointing to have driven here only to find it shut, however it was an opportunity to drive along winding our way through beautiful countryside.
