点评:Even locals are puzzled to hear the term “Beatles Ashram” as the place is Tiger Reserve enclosed within Maharishi Magesh Yogi Ashram which opened in 1960s and closed shortly. All the Beatles Band members and their spouses (except Yoko Ono) visited this ashram and performed here. When they visited, how long they stayed and why 84 caves or Ananda Bhavan or a building beside it are called Beatles Bungalow and meditation or performance halls is a big mystery. The photo gallery is satisfying and placing the facts of John Lennon and Paul McCartney in many photos (undated) with Maharishi Magesh Yogi. The place is dilapidated now and is under the control of Forest Dept with Indian Adults charged Rs 200 (Senior Citizen with Aadhaar Card =Rs 100) and foreign nationals being charged Rs 1200 per head. No information is offered and there is a map which further confuses. The caves (84 meditation caves), two halls of meditation cum performance, photo gallery and a bungalow similar to caves have depiction of Beatles logos and words in graffiti and photo gallery is behind Maharishi Bungalow. There is a coffee shop and toilet behind photo gallery. No smoking inside. One view point of Rishikesh from above at the top of long walk. Mobiles allowed for photo / videos Video cameras, big cameras and selfie sticks are not allowed. Strange, as the broken down place itself. One can go here and be prepared to “walk (4-5 KM in winding circle) the memory lane” remembering the once scintillating British group of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr who are said to be associated with Maharishi Magesh Yogi for long abroad, visited Rishikesh, stayed, performed and even wrote a song here (Song: 48: Let It Be). Good experience and every one is making money on the memory. On the road from Sita Bridge (Janaki Setu) one fellow has a lodge named “Beatles Guest House”. Keep asking for “Tiger Reserve by Uttarakhand Tourism “ or “Maharishi Magesh Yogi Ashram” and carry water to have a L..o..n..g Walk..!
