点评：This is an excellent exhibition, chronicling the life of one of the most interesting, important and perhaps least understood of the Antarctic explorers.
Shackleton was many things - a sailor, an explorer, a businessman, and an entrepreneur. By his own admission, he failed at most endeavors. However, where he excelled was in his treatment of his crew. In a time where men were expendable, he treated his crew with care and compassion; an approach which was virtually unheard of in those days.
The exhibition captures this rear insight to Shackleton’s character and also expertly chronicles his life in captivating detail, using modern digital media, virtual reality and actual physical artifacts from Shackleton’s expeditions.
The exhibition is housed in a beautifully restored building in the centre of Athy, itself a very elegant town. It is accessible to all ages and users. I would highly recommend visiting it.
