点评：This historic house is beautiful and incredibly well thought out in terms of visitor engagement, with activities for all age groups scattered throughout the rooms. The gardens are lovely too, with games for children to play, plants for sale and views of the nearby castle.
A lovely touch is the availability of tea and coffee in two rooms, asking for just a donation. The staff are very friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming, making you feel far more at home than in many other historic tourist attractions. There’s a live feed of bats in the roof space, which is another interesting feature.
If you enjoy board games there are plenty available to enjoy on a rainy day, costumes were available in period-themed rooms for photo opportunities.
All in all, there was much more on offer here than just a lovely historic house. All credit to the imagination and educational awareness of those designing the layout and activities.
