Nice location, but NOT dog friendly.
Mount Grace Priory, House and Gardens的点评
点评：Being an EH member, I found this place on the website, and it’s not far from where I live, so I thought I’d go for a wander around with the dog (I’m a solo traveller and have a husky). I checked the EH website and it said “Dogs on short leads are welcome in the grounds of Mount Grace. Please note, dogs are not permitted in the house, café interior or Reconstructed Monks Cell.”
That’s ok - I expect it in the house, disappointed with the café as that’s just ignorance by the management.
As an EH member I get free car parking which is a nice touch, and the grounds and gardens are beautiful. This site seems to be a JV with National Trust. And that’s about as far as the positivity goes.
First up the path is the cafe - big sign for doggy ice cream, here’s me thinking I’ll have a cuppa and doggo can have some ice cream. But no - huge sign on the door ‘no dogs except assistance dogs’. Being on my own with the dog, that rules me out from any of that.
Then I walk a bit further to the house, of which the first door after the big gates is the ticket office.
“No dogs except assistance dogs in the ticket office”
So - if you’re on your own with a dog, how in god’s name do you actually get in?
I ended up asking one of the other customers to ask one of the staff members if there was a way to come in or get a ticket if you have a dog. They suggested tying it up outside. That isn’t happening - and they had nowhere to do that anyway. He then brought the hand scanner outside and just scanned my ticket. He admitted they usually have staff outside but due to being short staffed they didn’t currently.
Sorely tempted to cancel my EH and NT membership as it feels like there’s a complete discrimination against dog owners by the agencies - especially solo dog owners.

所以，如果你独自带着狗，到底该怎么进去？
最后，我只好请其他游客帮忙问问工作人员，如果带着狗，有没有什么办法可以进去或者买票。他们建议把狗拴在外面。这根本不可能——而且他们也没地方拴狗。然后，工作人员把手持扫描仪拿到外面，直接扫了我的票。他承认他们通常会在外面安排工作人员，但由于人手不足，目前没有。
我真想取消我的EH和NT会员资格，感觉这些机构对狗主人——尤其是独自带狗的狗主人——存在严重的歧视。
