点评:In the year of the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, there is much hype and trumpeting around all things Austen related, but these trails are not only a beautiful way to spend time in the countryside she would have known, but they have also reset the record for the overlooked settlements where the young Jane spent her most formative years,
Overton seems to have been written out of the popular history of Miss Austen, but these maps and guided trails on foot and two wheels allow you to walk in her footsteps, and see the buildings and landscape she would have been so familiar with. Two of my highlights were the water meadows at the source of the River Test (a beautiful and rare chalk stream) and the handsome and historic Ashe Parsonage.
These are trails you can go back to again and again and always discover something new. Highly recommended.
