Very disappointing Christmas party – nothing like previous years

点评：We booked our company Christmas party at the Utilita Bowl based on great experiences in past years, but sadly this year’s event was extremely disappointing and not something I would recommend.
Firstly, we were placed in a long, brightly lit room overlooking the cricket ground, which had absolutely no atmosphere. Only a few tables were in the room, making it feel empty and flat all evening. To make matters worse, our company name was spelt wrong on the digital signage despite us flagging this earlier.
The table layout was odd (one with 12 places, another with 7), and the menu was surprisingly limited with only a single starter and dessert option. The soup starter was so peppery and spicy that half our table couldn’t eat it. The main course was good, but the dessert was very hard.
The DJ was another low point. The playlist during dinner was random, and because our table was right next to the speakers, the volume made it genuinely hard to talk. The lighting was static and added nothing. Given how far the music needed to travel down the long room, the whole audio setup felt poorly planned.
The dodgems were on the ground floor while our event was on the third, which made them far less accessible than previous years.
At £65 per head, this felt very poor value. We left feeling disappointed and will not return next year.
