Abandoned Spa Day Experience
Bishopstrow Spa的点评
点评：I booked a spa day at Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa with the expectation that the experience would run from 11am–4pm. Despite living over an hour away, I chose Bishopstrow over closer options because it appeared, from the website, to offer a better spa experience, unfortunately this was not the case.
I was running slightly late and called ahead, where I was told my arrival time was not an issue. However, on arrival I was informed that my treatment was scheduled for 2.30pm and afternoon tea at 3.45pm. As a single parent, I had arranged childcare until 5pm and needed to leave at 4pm, which is entirely reasonable for a Sunday spa day. Afternoon tea at 3.45pm is far too late and impractical, lunch would normally be expected around midday or early afternoon.
As a solo guest, I then looked to use the spa facilities for the several hours in between. Unfortunately, the facilities are extremely limited and very dated. There is a small indoor pool and jacuzzi, both of which feel tired and uninspiring, along with a steam room. The changing room was the smallest I have ever encountered at a spa, which further detracted from the experience. Overall, this is not a spa where you can comfortably relax for several hours.
When I raised concerns, I was told my afternoon tea could be “boxed up” as the kitchen was busy, not a solution I would expect for what is marketed as a premium spa experience.
After reading other reviews, it became clear that poor customer service is a recurring issue. On that basis, I did not attempt to escalate this to a manager or request a partial refund, as it appeared unlikely to be handled constructively.
I ultimately chose to leave early and abandon the experience altogether. This visit reinforced the importance of booking spas with established reputations and comprehensive facilities. I will continue to visit premium spas, which offer genuinely relaxing environments for extended visits. Unfortunately, Bishopstrow does not currently meet that standard.
