Echo Amphitheater的点评
点评：We've driven the road between Chama and Espanola a number of times. We've commented on and exclaimed at the beauty of Echo Amphitheater. We just never stopped. Today, we did.
Off to the side of the road is a small drive to a parking lot. At the end of the parking lot is a walkway ending with a number of flights of stairs leading to a platform in front of a cliff face. That’s Echo Amphitheater. It is a lovely, strange, surreal and wonderful place all in one. The cliff face rises hundreds of feet back into a large amphitheater setting. There's a nice concrete path ending up in a series of steps. A bunch of steps. They were icy, so we were quite careful walking. My wife and I walked and climbed back to a raised dirt platform. We were almost at the face of the rock. I yelled. And it ECHOED! Duh. The echo qualities of the amphitheater are amazing. It is one giant echo chamber. So glad we stopped. (And besides the surrounding terrain is simply marvelous).
Now for a 'preachy' message. There's a fee for parking. Please pay it. The Forest Service does such a good job of their limited budget that they can use every dollar they get. Even though we had an America The Beautiful senior pass, we paid the entrance fee. Enough.
Make time to go. It's pretty neat.
