Expensive day out especially with a pre schooler

点评：We visited as 2 grandparents and 5 and 3 year old grandchildren. Our general reaction is that this was quite an expensive day bearing in mind we took our own food and drink. There was a lot of work being done and so quite a few empty animal enclosures on the day. Some exhibits opened at set times as we discovered so annoying as we missed them. We wanted to watch the bird of prey display at 11.30 so asked a couple of Hobbledown staff with clipboards how to get there as we were pushing for time and with youngsters we didn’t want to make errors getting to the display error. The advice wasn’t useful, rather dismissive and came across as rude ‘ It’s the other side of the park , look at the map’ I said that the only reason we were asking was because the map wasn’t clear- not happy.
The grandies loved the water and sandpit areas. Animals seemed well cared for. We discovered the soft play area at the end of the day but the children were too tired to try. Would have been great if the weather hadn’t been good. Really appreciated the family toilet and changing area
All in all a lovely day out but spoilt by 2rude, unhelpful staff and I’m sure that’s not reflective of staff on the whole. The maps weren’t that great to fair difficult to work out if you are not sure where you are in the first place. We pre booked tickets but were held up with families turning up and paying on the day. Seemed to be lack of staff at the pay area.
